Starting January 1, 2025, Kathy Matsuda, a lifelong resident of North Kohala, will assume the role of Director of the Kohala Resilience Hub and Outreach. This new appointment opens the opportunity for Kimilee Vakauta to take on the position of Kohala Resilience Hub Coordinator, further strengthening the Hub’s mission to serve and support the community.
Kathy Matsuda brings decades of community engagement and leadership to her new role. Born and raised in North Kohala, Kathy is a proud graduate of Kohala High School and Cannon’s Business College. Her extensive community involvement includes serving as the Honorary Director for the North Kohala Community Resource Center (NKCRC) and active participation in numerous local groups such as the Health & Wellness, Culture & History, Agriculture, and the Kohala Community Plan committees.
As Kathy steps into her new position, Kimilee Vakauta will bring fresh energy and perspective as the Kohala Resilience Hub Coordinator. Together, Kathy and Kimilee will collaborate to enhance the Hub’s outreach and resilience initiatives, ensuring North Kohala remains a model for community-driven action and sustainability.
Starting in 2025, the Kohala Resilience Hub will now be located under the same roof as the North Kohala Community Resource Center at the NKCRC office. This centralization of operations will strengthen collaboration and provide a unified space to better serve the North Kohala community.
